Sora 2 to Seedance Migration Guide (2026): Prompt Mapping, Credit Math and API Cutover Checklist

Aug 15, 2026

API deadline: September 24, 2026. OpenAI's Sora API closes on that date. The consumer app already shut down April 26, 2026. This guide is for creators and engineers moving an existing Sora prompt library or API integration to Seedance 2.0 on seedance2-video.com.

If you already read /blog/sora-shutdown-alternatives-2026 or /sora-alternative and chose Seedance, this post is the execution layer: prompt mapping, credit math, generator settings, and a 7-day cutover checklist.

30-second migration summary

Seedance 2.0, at seedance2-video.com, replaces most Sora cinematic prompts with three edits: (1) put camera motion at the end of the prompt, (2) repeat subject descriptors in every shot of a sequence, (3) add audio cues because Seedance generates sound by default. Budget 105 credits (~$1.56) per 720p / 5s Image-to-Video clip at the Yearly Starter anchor — use /seedance-cost-calculator for your preset.

  • BytePlus ModelArk — Seedance 2.5 endpoint listed, coming soon (Aug 2026)

See /seedance-2-0-api for boundary between Volcengine API and this browser product.
